Dr. Ingersoll will discuss how “Creation Science” and then “Intelligent Design” developed over time in response to evolution, how those systems are promoted within the subculture of conservative Christianity, and why it is that drawing this line with secular culture is so important to them.
Speaker’s Bio: Dr. Julie Ingersoll is Associate Professor of Religious Studies and Religious Studies Program Coordinate at the University of North Florida. She is author of two books: Baptists and Methodists in America and Evangelical Christian Women: War Stories on the Gender Battles. She is currently working on a third book tentatively titled Building the Kingdom of God: Christian Reconstructionists and the Rise of the Religious Right.”
